resident hosts, Nathan and Laura

Nathan and Laura both grew up in Somerset, just a few miles apart. Although their paths didn’t cross in their school years, they had mutual friends and eventually met through their former partners. A shared love of water sports brought them closer, and they began working in hospitality through luxury yacht charters.
Those years provided the foundation for everything they now offer through English Cottage Vacation. They learned how to host in high-pressure settings, how to support one another through long hours, and how to create an experience that feels effortless, even when the work is anything but.

The week in Dorset: Kimmeridge named
one of Britain’s most beautiful villages
The Telegraph has just named Kimmeridge one of the most beautiful villages in the UK – and we’re hardly surprised.
Just under an hour from Well Cottage and nestled within a fold of green hills near the coast, Kimmeridge is a favourite for guests exploring nearby Corfe Castle. It’s a quieter alternative to Lulworth in high season, with its peaceful lanes, thatched cottages and sweeping coastal views.
The village is best known for its Jurassic coastline, extraordinary rock pools, and a fascinating fossil museum, The Etches Collection, filled with marine life dating back 150 million years. A short walk from the village leads to one of the most geologically important bays in the country, where you can safely swim, snorkel the underwater nature trail, or simply search for ancient sea creatures between the stones.
