Arrival

Arrive at the airport or we’ll meet you at a London hotel; no matter the time, we will be there waiting for you and ready to begin the relaxing journey to Well Cottage with a refreshing glass of champagne and a selection of canapes – only the best way to start your luxurious vacation!

Settle down into your new home for the week, enjoy a cup of tea or something a bit stronger, relax in the garden or venture out for a walk in the countryside.

Indulge in a delicious welcoming meal prepared by chef Laura.

Sherborne Abbey & Castles

A nice slow morning and a chance to fully recover from the jet lag. After devouring Laura’s hearty breakfast, we’ll make our way to the nearby market town of Sherborne

It truly is a cute little place with a very picturesque high street and lots of local traditional shops. There is a ruined 12th century castle on the outskirts of the town and then a ‘modern’ 16th century castle with beautiful gardens which still remains a private home today. Both castles can be visited and you can view the interior of the ‘new’ castle on certain days of the year.

Sherborne is also home to a magnificent abbey which you can also explore inside and then maybe grab a tea or coffee from the local coffee shop and enjoy your first full day in England.

Corfe Castle & Kingston Lacy

This is a nice relaxing day out, after a 45 minute car journey through small villages and along country roads we will arrive at Corfe Castle, the village which takes it’s name from the 1000 year old castle which sits on top of the hill over looking the village. It was an incredible royal castle in it’s day in which King John kept the crown jewels here and Henry VIII was a frequent visitor before Queen Elizabeth sold it to her chancellor. There is also an old steam train that runs between here and the seaside town of Swanage.

Once finished here we can head for the beautiful estate of Kingston Lacy which was built by the Bankes family who surrendered Corfe castle during the civil war.

This will allow us enough time to get back to the cottage to enjoy a pleasant cocktail hour sat in the garden on the luxurious garden furniture before dinner is served.

A day trip to Bath

Rise and shine! Wake up to the smell of coffee, already brewed and waiting for you, accompanied by freshly prepared breakfast. Enjoy while overlooking the far-reaching, scenic views from the garden room. Your next day trip is a city excursion to the spectacular, Roman-built city of Bath. Upon arrival Nathan will chauffeur you on a drive around the city, to point out the highlights, such as The Royal Crescent, The Circus, Victoria Park, The Abbey and Great Pulteney Street and Pulteney Bridge.

You are then welcome to explore as you please. Make use of your all inclusive Roman Bath tickets and any other excursions and sights that have been booked for you. Enjoy strolling through the centre while admiring the picturesque high street, have your breath taken away by Bath’s famous Abbey, then, why not pamper yourself with some retail therapy? If it’s a nice sunny day, we recommend punting on the river – which we can arrange for you!

When you are ready to leave, Nathan will take you back to Well Cottage where Laura will have been cooking up a storm for your dinner.

A Day Closer To Home

No trip would be complete without a day relaxing in and around Well Cottage. With no rush to rise, a restful lie-in with a gourmet mimosa breakfast in bed is a sure-fire way to start your day right! With so many activities like cycling, walking, horse riding, golf and local pubs to take advantage of, you are spoilt for choice. Perhaps relaxing in the garden with a good book and a cup of tea is more the pace you prefer – we will look after you all day long.

We can keep the children entertained with arts and crafts, games or even a spot of baking with Laura in the kitchen, while you have some downtime to yourself! Your inclusive in-house spa treatments can also be arranged to help you unwind while you listen to the birds sing in the garden, slowly edging towards another wonderful evening accompanied by a delicious dinner.

Highclere Castle & Stonehenge

No trip to England would not be complete without a trip to Highclere Castle, the filming location of the popular TV programme Downtown Abbey! The house is always set up just like in the TV program and they often run themed events to make you feel like you are living in the last century.

On the way home we can stop at Stonehenge to see this 5000 year old world heritage site. There is a full visitor centre which can be used to educate yourselves about how the professionals believe the stones got into this position- and why they are here! Then you can make your way down to the actual site to experience this amazing place.
Day six’s activities will end with another sumptuous meal prepared by chef Laura and served to your table by Nathan, accompanied by your favourite glass of wine, of course.

The Jurassic Coast & Thomas Hardy country

Well Cottage is the most ideal location across all of England for how perfectly situated it is to such an array of natural wonders. Nestled in the Dorset countryside, it is in such close proximity to one of the most spectacular coastlines in the British Isles- the Jurassic Coast.

A full day is in store for you today- our first stop is the incredible Durdle Door (pictured) which is just a 45 minute drive through the Dorset countryside, if you want to stretch your legs you can walk the 1 mile coastal walk to the very pretty Lulworth Cove, or Nathan can run you there in the vehicle.

After Lulworth we can take a 1 hour drive on the beautiful coastal road over rolling hills and through quintessential Dorset villages until we reach the fishing village of West Bay (filming location of the British TV show- Broadchurch) How about some traditional seaside fish n chips for lunch while watching the waves lap up on the beach.

On the way home as we drive through Thomas Hardy country we can stop at the popular English authors birthplace, a cosy little cottage nestled in the countryside in which his inspiration for his most popular novels came from.

Then, indulge in a glass of wine or a cup of tea while the scent of your lovingly-prepared dinner entices you towards the dining table.

Departure Day

It’s time to start reminiscing on the good times spent at Well Cottage. We will ensure you’re well fed before Nathan delivers you to, either your chosen airport, or your hotel in London before saying our heartfelt goodbyes.
