Christmas is a very magical time of year and there are always lots of special events going on. So why not come for a pre-Christmas break and enjoy this festive time of the year and do some shopping for your loved ones.

Bath Christmas Market– Thursday November 23rd – Sunday December 10th 2023: With over 160 twinkling chalets spread out across Bath’s picturesque Georgian streets, Bath Christmas Market is the perfect place to do a spot of Christmas shopping. From unique homeware to personalised presents, Christmas decorations, handcrafted jewellery and more, you’re guaranteed to find something special for your loved ones. Throughout the Market, you’ll find tasty traditional food to satisfy any appetite and of course the caramelised nuts and aromatic mulled wine to keep you toasty while you browse.

Stourhead Light Festival– December 1st – 31st 2023: The beautiful National Trust property always likes to decorate their gardens for Christmas with a light festival; expect lots of multi coloured light ornaments around the gardens, the trees and shrubs dressed in colour, tunnels of lights and festive music as you stroll around the gardens with a nice warm hot chocolate during the evening. You may even spot Father Christmas and his reindeer!

Longleat Land of Light– November 11th – January 7th: Enjoy a light phenomenon around the house and gardens of Longleat- expect to see the complete house lit up with beautiful colours and the gardens decorated tastefully and beautifully and the day turns to night.

Shaftesbury Christmas SpectacularMonday 27th November 2023 TBC: Our local town of Shaftesbury always have a Christmas light switch on evening in early December; there are plenty of stalls selling festive delights like mulled wine and mince pies, expect music from choirs and marching bands, Santa will have a grotto for the kids and the majority of the local shops stay open for some late night shopping. Wrap up warm and enjoy the whole local community getting together for some festive fun.

The ‘Panto’– Get into the real British tradition and take a trip to the pantomime one evening for a lot of ‘booing’ and “It’s behind you” as you enjoy Beauty and the Beast @ Bournemouth Pavilion, great for adults and families alike. Advance booking highly recommended.

Christmas Outdoor Ice RinkLate November through December: Take your pick, temporary ice rinks pop up all over the country. Dorchester, Bath, Bournemouth or Winchester are all popular locations during the festive time. So once the Christmas shopping is under control and all the sightseeing is complete, grab your skates and take a break with your loved ones to experience the perfect Xmas activity.
